At the start of this week, rapper and YouTuber DDG launched his seven-day stream entitled “Hit-A-Thon”. According to Uproxx, he will be on Twitch continuously 24/7, also spending this time working on his fourth studio album. The fans will play a crucial part in shaping this project as they will assist in selecting beats, verses, and even the title. The stream will come to an end on April 1, which is also the date when the LP will become available. This method is a remarkably cool and inventive approach to creating a new project. It will be intriguing to determine if the fans’ feedback results in a scorching listening experience or not. Thus far, however, we have to acknowledge that things are off to a scorching beginning.
DDG released footage from the initial recording session of the “Hit-A-Thon” stream, and the resulting product is “Hate Or Love It.” The track includes Wiz Khalifa and was made available on the content creator’s DDG Live channel. It is a hazy, laid-back song with infectious melodies courtesy of the Pittsburgh-based artist. While Wiz sounds particularly good on the beat, DDG holds his own when he appears on the second verse. His increased tempo offers a refreshing change of rhythm, and he achieves a smooth strike when doing so. If the upcoming album has more songs like this one, then we’re all ears.
