Following his earlier remarks about the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Davido has publicly apologized and retracted his initial statements.

The Afrobeats star acknowledged his previous criticism of the commissioner, now recognizing the significant efforts made by security agencies in addressing the recent unrest in the state.

Earlier today, Davido had expressed strong disapproval of the commissioner, accusing him of neglecting his duty to uphold the law amid the violence that led to several casualties.

In a recent update shared on X, Davido admitted that after reflecting on the situation, he now sees that the commissioner had indeed demonstrated “genuine efforts” to manage the crisis as it unfolded.

He explained that his initial outburst was driven by anger over the tragic and preventable loss of life in Osun State.

Recognizing the challenges at hand, the singer accepted that security personnel, including the police commissioner, had been diligently working behind the scenes.

“In memory of the innocent lives lost, emotions ran high among me and my friends. We were not aware that the Commissioner of Police was putting in sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At that moment, I failed to fully acknowledge his contributions, which was a serious oversight. I now wish to commend his commitment to upholding the rule of law and restoring peace in Osun State,” Davido expressed.

He also lauded the commissioner’s dedication and urged security agencies to enhance their efforts in preventing further disturbances, especially with the local government elections scheduled for February 22, 2025.

“In honor of those who lost their lives or sustained injuries, I call on the Commissioner of Police and all security agencies to reinforce their efforts in maintaining peace. It is imperative that the rule of law prevails,” he stated.

Davido emphasized that facilitating a peaceful electoral process is crucial for both politicians and security officials, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police.

He concluded his statement by wishing the commissioner and other security leaders success in their ongoing efforts to tackle the security issues in the state.
