Renowned musician Davido has expressed his frustration about the scarcity of world-class arenas in Nigeria, highlighting the need for investment in local infrastructure to promote African excellence.
Speaking at the Elevate Africa leadership event, Davido shared his experience booking Madison Square Garden in the USA. He revealed that the management initially hesitated due to concerns about hosting a large African crowd.
“Years later, I received praise for successfully filling the venue, helping shift perceptions about African events,” Davido said.
Additionally, Davido emphasized his desire for Nigeria to have similar world-class arena, expressing fatigue with relying on Eko Hotel for local events. “Nigerian states need modern arenas to showcase our talent and culture, reducing reliance on Western validation.”
Meanwhile, Davido’s passionate appeal has sparked discussions about Africa’s potential, infrastructure development, and self-sufficiency.
