The Afrobeats hitmaker posted a screenshot of the message on his Instagram story on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in which a follower suggested that he stage a protest by using only commercial flights during his forthcoming Nigeria tour.

The sender argued that the decision should be made in the interests of event organisers and commercial airline operators, claiming that Davido’s frequent use of private jets has set an unachievable benchmark for other artists. The message suggested that if Davido agreed to fly commercial for just one month, it would make him a trending topic and demonstrate humility to other artists, thereby reversing the ‘wahala’ he allegedly caused in the industry.

The follower wrote in part: “David, please do a protest on our behalf as artists who book gigs and on behalf of people who generally use commercial planes. Just one month of you using commercial flights for your 9ja tour will make a big impact and humble every other artist because you are the cause of all this commotion, so you must reverse this.”

Davido, though, seemed completely unfazed by the unusual request he received via his Instagram direct message. The screenshot only showed a brief reply of “Lmao” accompanied by five laughing emojis, indicating he found the message extremely amusing.

The global star’s likely rejection of the suggestion highlights the pressures surrounding image and lifestyle in Afrobeats, as well as Davido’s casual relationship with fans who feel comfortable making bold and sometimes unusual requests.
