Davido Criticizes Instagram Blog For Unfounded Kidnapping Claims

Davido, a well-known Nigerian artist of Afrobeats, has strongly responded to a contentious report published by a prominent Instagram blog which inaccurately associated him with a kidnapping incident.

The report, which rapidly gained widespread attention online, featured footage of three individuals who had been detained by residents in a neighbourhood in Lagos State. In the footage, one of the suspects identified himself as “Ifeanyi from Anambra State,” and the alleged leader acknowledged his alias, asserting that “Davido” was indeed his nickname. My intention was to abduct. The two other suspects stated that they were from Kwara and Imo states respectively.

The Instagram blog posted the video with a false or misleading label: Davido and two individuals were detained for alleged kidnapping in Lagos. The post quickly generated widespread outrage and confusion among fans and social media users.

Davido responded to the Instagram blog’s post about the kidnapping case by issuing a strong warning on X (formerly Twitter). One day will be the same as any other day; life goes on, and my luck or fate doesn’t always change immediately.

After the backlash and the singer’s response, the blog quickly removed the offending post. The controversy has heightened debate about the spread of misinformation on social media and its possible outcomes.
