Nigerian singer Danny Young has shared his thoughts on the impact of social media on artistes and the music industry.
Danny Young, Ajibola Oluwamiyiwa Danladi stated in a recent podcast that it has been a turning point in democratizing the sector.
The artiste said, “The good thing is that social media came to expose many of them because it gave people the opportunity to express themselves. That is what led to the emergence of what we call Gen Z.”
He added, “My definition of Gen Z is freedom of speech, freedom of rights, and freedom of expression.”
Additionally, Danny Young believes that social media has reduced the control of powerful gatekeepers. This allows artistes to express themselves freely without fear of judgment. Also, he credits social media for giving artistes the platform to showcase their talents and connect with fans directly.
According to Danny Young, social media has been instrumental in empowering artistes. Lastly, it has also promoted freedom of expression, which is characteristic of Generation Z.
