Da Brat – Have U 2 Myself

Da Brat Have U 2 Myself

Da Brat is making a drastic change to her music sound for her first single in nearly three full years. The song “Have U 2 Myself” includes R&B singer-songwriter Jessica Betts, who is married to the actress Niecey Nash. In the 1990s, it would have been blasphemous to her fans to imagine the gritty female rapper collaborating with a vocalist known for her soft, gentle voice.

She’s finally opening up in a heartfelt love song about forming a strong bond and intense affection for your loved one. Betts is the standout performer on this track, refusing to be upstaged by Da Brat’s vibrant enthusiasm. Her chorus has a rich, velvety sound and a sensual quality that establishes the mood right away.

Expressing strong emotions like this is a rewarding experience for someone like Brat. She incorporates her signature style while also adapting it to match the overall atmosphere of “Have U 2 Myself.”

It’s a remarkable return in multiple ways, primarily due to two key factors.

According to West Coast Styles, this marks Da Brat’s first-ever independent release. In a recent statement, the Funkdafied visionary expressed her enthusiasm for embarking on this next step. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with numerous artists, however, this particular release holds significant value for me as it marks my first foray into independent production. She stated that in her years of experience, she has composed a significant amount of music which she has largely kept to herself due to the substantial changes the industry has undergone since she began her career.

Currently, I am being backed by an exceptional group of people who truly have my best interests in mind and have faith in my objectives, which greatly impacts the outcome.

This song holds significant meaning, particularly given that both artists are part of the LGBTQ+ community and sought to commemorate Pride Month in a substantial manner. It was roughly four years ago that Da Brat made her debut, following a 25-year wait.

With all inhibitions removed, this track was a profoundly impactful experience for her. Brat mentioned that he first met Betts many years ago and remembered her being kind from the very beginning. “She adores her partner Niecy Nash-Betts, similarly to how I adore mine Jesseca Harris-Dupart, and we both greatly treasure our lives with them.” This connection is one we wish to share globally.
