Throughout the 2020 decade, Fik has not been as engaged as he has been in the past. It has been a while since the Bay Area rapper released any material. The West Coast MC’s last recorded output was his In a Deep Bag project from 2022. He’s been more active lately, but primarily as a featured artist. In recent times, he has been providing the most assistance to Hitta Slim. Overall, the 2020’s decade has not seen Fik (pronounced Feek) at his most active. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, he particularly excelled after signing with E-40’s label, Sick Wid It Records. He aims to reign supreme during the warmer months in California with “Thangin” and solidify his position.
Helping the artist are his label head and Oakland icon Too $hort. The primary focus of this track is singularly centered around one subject – Booty. Small ones, large ones, naturally occurring ones, buttock augmentations via Brazilian butt lifts, it doesn’t matter. Bijan produced the track, which features a distinct West Coast vibe that motivates women to show off their moves. Minimalist style enables artists like Cousin Fik, E-40, and Too $hort to come up with humorous and witty one-liners, such as “You got a dump truck, Ima need a CDL.” When that happens, those two buttocks join together like a tight group. “Thangin” achieved a single objective, and it was successful. There are indications that Cousin Fik’s next album is in production. This single would be sufficient on its own. It might encourage him to return to the studio and break his streak of not releasing any new long-playing records.
