A court in Lagos has released Nigerian musician and Marlian Music head, Abdulazeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, along with his associate Samson Balogun Eletu, also referred to as Sam Larry, and Owodunni Ibrahim, who is also known as Primeboy, in relation to the death of emerging singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, commonly called Mohbad.

The death of Mohbad on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, led to widespread speculation and accusations directed at Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and others. According to a report by Channels TV, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution’s legal advice found that the trio did not have a case to pursue. Following the court’s directive, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje carried out the order to have them cleared of any wrongdoing in the case.

The court subsequently decided that Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who had treated Mohbad prior to his passing, along with Ayobami Sadiq, one of the late singer’s acquaintances, would be brought to trial. Pursuant to Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law, Chapter C.17, Volume 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015, they will be held accountable for their reckless and negligent actions.

The recent development has added a new twist to the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s tragic death, which continues with ongoing legal proceedings against those still being charged.
