Complete List Of Winners At The 9th AFRIMA Awards

Nigeria’s music prominence was highlighted during the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos on Sunday night.

The event, hosted by rapper and actor Falz, gathered significant figures from across Africa to celebrate musical talent, cultural diversity, and excellence within the continent.

Rema emerged as a standout figure of the night, winning three major awards, which emphasized his rising influence throughout Africa and beyond. He was named Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artist in Western Africa, and Best African Artist in R&B and Soul, achieving a complete sweep of these categories.

While Rema earned multiple individual accolades, Burna Boy secured a distinguished honor by winning Album of the Year for No Sign of Weakness, reinforcing his reputation as a leading global representative of African music. Additionally, he was recognized for collaboration with Shallipopi, receiving the award for Best African Collaboration.

Shallipopi also had a significant night, winning Song of the Year for his popular track Laho. His achievement highlighted the growing impact of street-pop music in Africa.

Phyno represented African hip-hop by winning Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop, while Yemi Alade demonstrated her versatility by winning Best Soundtrack for her song You Are, featured in the animated series Iyanu.

The event also recognized emerging talent, with Qing Madi being named Most Promising Artist of the Year, overcoming a competitive field that included Cysoul, Joshua Baraka, King Luca, L’Oiseau Rare, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Massamba Amadeus, Rym, Kunmie, and Fola. Chella was named African Fans’ Favourite, winning the audience’s appreciation.

Other Nigerian artists who received awards included Yemi Alade, Qing Madi, Phyno, and Chella, further highlighting Nigeria’s strong representation at the continental awards event.

The ceremony featured vibrant performances and heartfelt acceptance speeches, showcasing Africa’s diverse musical landscape. AFRIMA 2025 reaffirmed its status as a celebration of the continent’s evolving music industry and its growing influence on the international scene.
