Virginia rappers Clipse have always been a duo that respects God. Now, the brothers Pusha T and Malice can say they are the first rap group to play at the Vatican.

On Saturday night, September 13, the Grace for the World concert took place in Vatican City, which is an independent area led by the pope and found in Rome, Italy. It was particularly special because it was the first concert ever held in St. Peter’s Square.

Clipse performed the song “The Birds Don’t Sing,” which is the first song from their newest album, Let God Sort Em Out, that has received great reviews. They wore black suits and were joined by John Legend to sing this powerful song that honors their deceased parents.

The concert was co-directed by Pharrell and famous Italian singer Andrea Bocelli. “This is a special cultural moment where everyone pauses to pay attention together,” Pharrell mentioned in a press release before the concert. “It sends a message of unity and kindness to all people. ”

“This is actually happening. I’m on my way to the airport right now because this is really going down,” Pusha T posted on X the day before the event. This occasion felt special, especially for Malice, also known as No Malice. He is the older brother and had left the group at one point because he felt the music didn’t match his beliefs. He released two solo albums called Hear Ye Him and Let the Dead Bury the Dead in 2013 and 2017, before getting back together with his brother in 2019.

Clipse were not alone at the concert. Other stars included Jennifer Hudson, Karol G, Teddy Swims, Jelly Roll, and many more. The concert was free to attend and was broadcast live on ABC News Live, Hulu, and Disney+, marking the end of the third annual World Meeting on Human Fraternity.
