Cardi B was at the centre of a tense exchange outside a Los Angeles courthouse on Tuesday, 2 September, following a photographer’s question about her personal life which she considered to be “disrespectful”.

A Bronx-born celebrity, taking a break from her ongoing civil assault case, was exiting the Alhambra courthouse when an unknown man shouted a question linking her ex-husband, Offset, to claims of a fourth pregnancy. The photographer also mentioned her current boyfriend, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

The visibly frustrated Grammy winner took a marker she had used to sign her autograph and threw it at the man. “Stop disrespecting me,” Cardi B shot back. “Don’t show me disrespect.”

The situation worsened as the photographer kept on shouting at her. Cardi responded by contesting the gender-biased nature of the questioning. “Are you seeing women asking me questions like that?” she inquired. As a man, can you explain why you think you have the right to ask me those kinds of questions, and show some consideration? Your mother taught you to respect women.

Immediately afterwards, Cardi got into an idling car but rolled down the window to address the crowd one last time. “After that, you won’t be seeing me anymore, and you can thank him for that, she said, intending to limit her interactions with the press.”

Soon after, she posted a passionate message on social media that appeared to be about the incident. She missed her children’s first day of school today for this reason. “If you think I’m here to amuse myself with you, then GODD**N IT, I am not.”

A heated moment arose just a few hours before the jury handed down its verdict in the rapper’s civil case. According to Rap-Up, Cardi B was found not liable in a $24 million lawsuit filed by former security guard Emani Ellis, who had accused her of assault and battery. The incident which occurred in 2018 in Beverly Hills, led Ellis to claim that she was physically assaulted by the star at the time of her pregnancy. Cardi claimed it was simply a verbal disagreement, rather than an actual physical confrontation.
