Cardi B’s already celebrated album rollout for her new album, AM I THE DRAMA?, has just received an unexpected boost. The Hip Hop superstar is now headlining at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City on Saturday, September 27.

The Bronx rapper is set to replace The Weeknd, who had stated on Monday (September 22) that he would no longer be performing as initially planned. The singer expressed regret for informing his fans that, owing to personal circumstances, he would be unable to perform at Global Citizen, as stated in his Instagram Stories post. “I’m grateful to my supporters for joining forces with them, as I firmly believe in the importance of their cause.”

The Global Citizen Festival takes place each year on the Great Lawn in Central Park. Supporters can opt to purchase tickets or participate through the Global Citizen app in order to win free tickets.

Hugh Evans, Global Citizen’s CEO and co-founder, stated in a press release that they are extremely thankful to Cardi B, who has been added to the Global Citizen Festival’s performer list. She is a remarkable performer who will illuminate Central Park in a dazzling manner. We appreciate The Weeknd’s support and want to thank him and his fans for their efforts in helping us combat extreme poverty.

Cardi B is undoubtedly well-acquainted with the festival, having appeared on stage in September 2018 to perform songs from her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, which had just been released. In spite of her busy agenda, she is enthusiastic about her unanticipated comeback.

She expressed pride in supporting a significant cause, saying that this music festival is distinct in bringing people together to assist children globally. “New York City: we’ll catch up on Saturday, let’s make it happen.”

If you are unable to attend New York City, you can watch the 2025 Global Citizen Festival on YouTube, Apple Music, the Apple TV app, iHeartRadio and other platforms. The concert is being hosted by actor Hugh Jackman and other main performers include Shakira, Tyla, Ayra Starr and Mariah the Scientist.
