Cardi B – Don’t Do Too Much

Cardi B is still working on her AM I THE DRAMA? phase. To catch up for some time she may have missed, she has put out a Bonus Edition of her second platinum album. The only new song added is “Don’t Do Too Much,” but that doesn’t make it any less important.

This song has some fun things to notice, even though it’s basically a typical party song. Starting with the “Grrah, grrah” intro, the rhythm, and the drill/Jersey club beat, it seems like it might be taking a sly jab at Ice Spice.

Everyone knows that these two New York rappers don’t get along, with their feud beginning last summer. Ice Spice seems to have kicked things off after throwing a subtle shade in her song Y2K!

In her track “BB Belt,” Spice raps, “Think she’s pretty, but changing her face (Wow) / Falling behind like, girl, speed up your pace / It was all fun until I took her place. ” Cardi then seemed to respond to that on X, promising she would get her revenge.

She seemed to have done that on “Magnet,” saying, “Slow-faced girl, whose spot are you taking? / My spot is forever, girl, I’m like a Dalmatian. ”

Of course, neither that nor “Don’t Do Too Much” are direct attacks on the newer artist. However, since Cardi B is adding a little drama to AITD? , it’s an angle to consider here.
