Dropping her album I THE DRAMA has Cardi B feeling like she’s about to give birth all over again. During a preview of her interview on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Monday, September 15, the rapper revealed the flood of emotions she’s experiencing in anticipation of the album’s release.

I’m feeling extremely overwhelmed, a mix of excitement and nervousness, and there are a multitude of emotions at play. Cardi B commented, “I just can’t wait to get it out of the way,” adding humorously, “It’s like I’m giving birth to another baby or something.”

Hudson stated that Cardi B’s musical “baby” has been delayed for approximately seven years, since her previous album, Invasion of Privacy, was released in 2018. The host noted that their albums are like their children, a sentiment Cardi B strongly endorsed.

Cardi B explained that she chose to release the album now, rather than a few years after her Grammy Award-winning debut, with a straightforward response: “It was finished.” Notably, she recorded approximately 60 tracks for the project, although when songs like “WAP” and “Up” were initially released, she only had four that she genuinely liked.

It was fully finished. I thought to myself, ‘That is what’s lacking out there.’ She told Hudson that she felt like she had covered all the points she wanted to cover. “It’s like, ‘I’m done, I just can’t fit any more in.'” Other songs on the LP include “Outside” and “Imaginary Playerz,” the latter sampling JAY-Z’s “Imaginary Players.”

Following the release of Once AM I THE DRAMA?, Cardi B will embark on a meet-and-greet tour, which will be followed by a North American concert tour that will visit more than 30 cities. Preparations are already underway. She’s already taking dancing classes at the gym. The US portion of the trek will conclude in April 2026, with no confirmation of a subsequent European tour.
