Burna Boy Discloses His Top Rappers Of All Time

Global artist Burna Boy has shared his views on one of hip-hop’s most widely debated subjects: determining which rappers truly deserve the title of the “Greatest of All Time.”

During a recent interview on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist discussed his personal selection of rappers he regards as the most exceptional, combining well-known names with a talented individual from the current generation.

Burna Boy selected three rappers, opting to feature a representative from the new school among them. The list included Tupac Shakur, who due to his powerful storytelling and politically conscious lyrics, became one of the most influential artists in rap history. The rapper Big Pun, renowned for his sharp lyricism and intricate rhymes, is still highly regarded by hip-hop purists as a notable figure from the Bronx.

To complete his selection, Burna Boy focused on the UK music scene, choosing J Hus as his ambassador for the younger generation. J Hus has established a distinctive sound by merging Afrobeats, UK rap, and dancehall, which resonates worldwide, demonstrating an appreciation for this style by Burna.

Burna Boy, despite narrowing his list to three, couldn’t help but mention DMX in passing, acknowledging the late rapper’s influence before finalising his selections.
