Brent Faiyaz – peter pan / tony soprano

Brent Faiyaz has released new music following a two-year break, with a double single called “peter pan” and “tony soprano.”

The creator of The Wasteland combines vulnerability and confidence on both tracks, providing a glimpse into his developing musical style. Following his 2023 mixtape Larger Than Life, which included popular tracks like Best Time and Moment of Your Life with Coco Jones, this release has been made available.

The softer side of Faiyaz is channelled through the “Peter Pan” theme. The song, produced by Nascent, delves into the conflict between love and ambition.

Faiyaz reminisces about his efforts to preserve close relationships while pursuing his professional ambitions in music, as he sings, “If I could be there / I would love you entirely.”

The lyrics convey a sense of yearning as he readies himself for another overseas journey.

Faiyaz shifts focus to “Tony Soprano.” Inspired by the HBO mob series The Sopranos, he moves away from singing crooning and instead adopts melodic rapping.

He asserts his authority through lines such as, “I’m really a Don, no Datta / But I take care of everybody,” and showcases his ability to adapt.

Faiyaz stated in a statement that his two songs embody the duality that is central to his recent work. He noted that the music examines a variety of ideas, theories, feelings, and experiences, drawing attention to disparities such as “innocence versus indecency” and “vulnerability versus guardedness.”

Faiyaz has formed collaborations with artists such as 21 Savage, Wizkid, and Loe Shimmy, following the release of Larger Than Life. He recently fuelled speculation about a new project by posting an Instagram Story on July 3 that read ICON to mark his 30th birthday.

The upcoming album will generate excitement among fans of the new music. They will wait with anticipation to experience something truly exceptional and great.
