Big Sean – Head To The Sky (Freestyle)

Big Sean Head To The Sky Freestyle

Big Sean is unexpectedly treating his fans and social media followers to a brand new freestyle today. The song is titled “Head To The Sky” and it coincidentally drops just in time for the tail end of Black History Month. The idea behind this unexpected release is currently exclusive to his Instagram and X platforms. Given the overwhelmingly positive response it’s getting, it wouldn’t surprise us if it ends up on streaming platforms before long. Singers Bryson Tiller and 2 Chainz, along with a few other artists, have expressed their affection for the Detroit native thus far through their social media posts. Sean Don addresses the difficulties of life, particularly for the Black community, in this 2:15 song. He also discusses his family’s ancestry and background, making this another intimate and personal expression for him.

This track could easily fit into his previous album, Better Me Than You, which primarily focused on themes of personal growth, introspection, family, and more. Big Sean revealed the backstory of his song “Head To The Sky,” discussing the creative process involved. He explained that his collaborator @amairejohnson took a Sounds of Blackness track and shared it with him, prompting Big Sean to record a verse for fun. This particular original has always held a very special place in my heart, as it is profoundly inspiring and possesses a deep, soulful quality that is quintessentially black. Lately, I’ve been in a slightly darker mood while working in the studio, possibly due to the anniversary of Dark Sky Paradise serving as inspiration, but we’ll discuss that later, and I really enjoyed how this beat gave off a sense of optimism, like a ray of sunshine. We filmed this clip in New York a couple of days ago in the few hours of spare time we had, and @kirchfilmss & @thomascarmona went wild. View the information at the link provided below.
