BIA – ONE THING

BIA ONE THING

BIA is drawing inspiration from Lauryn Hill with her new single, “ONE THING.” Listen to the bridge, and the title won’t give it away. If you want the correct answer immediately, the Boston, Massachusetts female rapper is sampling the Fugees legend’s iconic “Doo Wop (That Thing)”.

The messaging on this 2025 version is also extremely similar to that of the 1998 genre-melding hit. Instead of issuing warnings on “ONE THNG,” BIA concentrates solely on the female point of view.

The life I had envisioned, surrounded by white picket fences, is tainted by the unpleasant and aggressive behavior of those involved, who are forced to see reason once they are seated. BIA is not particularly known for songs like this. You listen to her music to get pumped up or to party to.

The burgeoning rapper is demonstrating a significant amount of versatility in terms of sonics, content, and vocals. We hear her break into singing on the bridge mentioned earlier, and it effectively breaks up the song.

In a press statement, she expressed her desire to pay tribute to Ms. Lauryn Hill and her unique blend of musical styles. This song is my tribute to Lauryn Hill. We appreciate your initiative to increase the frequency for the benefit of all women and future generations.

The production has a light, summery, island feel to it, with influence from reggae music. It’s reasonable given the music video was filmed somewhere tropical or beachy.

Overall, BIA’s album is an unanticipated yet delightful surprise, showcasing her substantial artistic abilities. Spin “One Thing” below while you wait for her upcoming debut album.
