Beyoncé Will Serve As Co-Chair For The 2026 Met Gala, Alongside Nicole Kidman And Venus Williams

Beyoncé will return to the Met Gala for the first time in ten years. Vogue announced on Wednesday (Dec. 10) that the singer will co-chair the event in 2026, alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

In addition, Zoë Kravitz and Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello have been added to the Host Committee as co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala. Previously confirmed participants include Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, A’ja Wilson, and Teyana Taylor, among others.

The theme for the gala will be “Costume Art,” focusing on “the relationship between clothing and the body beneath.” Lead curator Andrew Bolton stated, “Rather than prioritizing fashion’s visuality, which often comes at the expense of the corporeal, ‘Costume Art’ privileges its materiality and the indivisible connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear.”

The event is scheduled for May 4, 2026, which allows fans to look back at Beyoncé’s previous appearances and speculate on her outfit for next year. Some are already interpreting her return as a hint that Act III could be on the horizon.

At the 2016 Met Gala, Beyoncé wore Givenchy for the fifth consecutive year, selecting a puff-sleeve latex gown adorned with 2,000 pearls for the “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology” theme.

The previous year, she made a bold statement in what many consider her most daring Met look: a sheer gown intricately covered by Swarovski crystals and stones, paired with Givenchy platforms.

Celebrity stylist Ty Hunter described the experience, saying, “This is one of the heaviest dresses, and I had to stay by her side because of all of those thick, Swarovski crystals on this mesh. So that night, yeah, it was a lot of work. I had to work this night.”
