Ayra Starr Was Named Best International Act At The 2025 MOBO Awards

Award-winning singer and performer Ayra Starr has been honored with the title of Best International Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards.

The Afrobeats sensation was recognized at the prestigious British ceremony that celebrates excellence in music of Black origin.

Ayra claimed victory in a fiercely competitive category, outshining prominent nominees such as South African amapiano artist Tyla, American hip-hop stars Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion, as well as two-time Grammy winner Tems from Nigeria.

In a historic achievement, Ayra Starr became the first female artist to win this esteemed award in over 15 years. Her win follows an exciting year that included the release of her second album, ‘The Year I Turned 21.’

Starr has also taken her music to international audiences, extensively touring and performing at renowned festivals like Glastonbury.

This latest accolade from the MOBO Awards solidifies Starr’s burgeoning prominence in the global music scene.

The MOBO Awards celebrate excellence in Black music and culture, acknowledging remarkable contributions across a variety of genres, including Hip-Hop, Grime, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Electronic/Dance, Alternative, Gospel, and African music.

With 2025 already being a remarkable year for her, Starr is making significant strides. She was also featured in Issue 28 of ‘Blanc Magazine,’ titled ‘Rule The World,’ where she discussed her journey and highlighted the vital support of her family and friends in boosting her confidence.
