On Tuesday evening, February 18, a Los Angeles jury acquitted ASAP Rocky of two firearm-related assault charges. A not guilty verdict brought a significant sense of relief to the rapper, who had potentially faced up to 24 years in prison following a 2021 altercation with Terell “ASAP Relli” Ephron.
Immediately following the verdict, footage from the courtroom depicted ASAP Rocky leaping over the gallery railing to embrace Rihanna and his mother. We appreciate your efforts in preventing a critical situation. The “L$D” artist expressed gratitude to Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold saying, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Reactions from Other Celebrities to ASAP Rocky’s Not Guilty Verdict
Outside the courthouse, fans and several of ASAP Rocky’s peers voiced their opinions, with the most notable comments coming from the mother of his two children. All glory belongs to God and God only, Rihanna stated on her Instagram post. Gratefully acknowledging his kindness and feeling abashed by it.
“I said I would bet $500,000 that he was going to win as soon as Tellie started getting tired of telling stories for five days in a row,” 50 Cent captioned an Instagram post. Ye shared a black-and-white image of ASAP Rocky, accompanied by a basic prayer hand emoji in the caption.
The Future of ASAP Rocky is Uncertain
Starting the new year with a trial was not the most desirable situation, but fortunately, ASAP Rocky has numerous commitments lined up for the remainder of 2025. He will be the main performer on the first night of Rolling Loud California in March, alongside other artists including Playboi Carti, Sexyy Red, YG, and Quavo.
Fans are also eagerly anticipating Don’t Be Dumb, which, as stated by Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif, is scheduled to be released prior to the festival. The Harlem native’s fourth studio album, which had been eagerly anticipated, was initially scheduled for release in August 2024 but was ultimately postponed several times due to significant reasons. Following this, ASAP Rocky is scheduled to co-chair the Met Gala in May and also star in the film Highest 2 Lowest, directed by Spike Lee.
