Asake Discusses Humility, Self-Importance, And Respect Within The Music Industry

Nigerian music sensation Ahmed Ololade, commonly referred to as Asake, has discussed the difficulties of balancing humility and ego within the entertainment industry.

In a recent interview, the former YBNL signee stated that humility is frequently misinterpreted and overlooked, whereas displays of ego are occasionally commended by fans. He believes that being humble can lead people to underestimate an artist, whereas displaying a bit of ego makes audiences perceive the artist as less approachable and thus more captivating.

If you’re an artist and you’re humble, people often take your talents for granted. According to Asake, if people perceive you as having an ego, they tend to think you are less approachable, which ultimately makes them regard you more favourably.

The artist behind The Mr Money With The Vibe track further stated that many individuals are less concerned with an artist’s creative process and more focused on the final outcome. The individual stated that the fans’ appreciation often isn’t shown for the behind-the-scenes effort, yet delivering results warrants respect.

It’s often more effective to demonstrate something rather than explaining it. Appreciation for it is actually lacking. Just do what you need to do and then leave, he said.

Asake stressed that one should concentrate on the work in hand rather than striving for approval or displaying self-effacement. In a world where superficial appeal frequently eclipses authenticity, artists are more likely to thrive when their work does the talking.
