Nigerian artists Asake and Limoblaze triumphed at the 26th MOBO Awards as winners were announced at Utilita Arena, Sheffield, the UK, on 7 February.
In the ceremony hosted by British actor and comedian Babatúndé Aléshé and reality TV star Indiyah Polack, Asake beat fellow African stars – Burna Boy, Davido, Rema, Wizkid,Tyla, Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Libianca and Uncle Waffles – to clinch the Best African Act category trophy.
Limoblaze, meanwhile, took home the Best Gospel category gong, overcoming competition from UK acts Annatoria, CalledOut Music, Guvna B,Tofunmi Adorna and Triple O.
Other winners on the night included British-Ghanaian rapper Stormzy, who won Video of the Year, and British-Nigerian artist Little Simz, who grabbed the Best Hip Hop Act award.
The ceremony was livestreamed on YouTube, with BBC One to air the Access All Areas show on 9 February at 11.30pm.
