Album: uLazi – Wethu

The most recent full-length album by renowned Amapiano producer uLazi is entitled Wethu, and it was released on June 27, 2025, through Mguzuguzu Records. Featuring 15 tracks and lasting just over an hour and a half, this project is a bold and immersive exploration of uLazi’s distinctive sound, which is marked by layered percussion, hypnotic log drums, moody atmospheres, and deep, rolling basslines.

Lazi, official RSA and Benzoo recently appeared on Ganda Ganda featuring Navaro and LESH.

The project’s title, Wethu, which translates to “ours” in isiZulu, establishes a tone centered on community, identity, and collective musical expression. Lazi isn’t just producing beats; he’s creating sonic landscapes, crafting each track to evoke a journey through the daily life of a South African township. The album features a diverse emotional spectrum, combining high-energy tracks such as “Ganda Ganda” with more contemplative songs like “Jappi Wethu” to achieve a balance between dancefloor appeal and introspective moments.

One notable feature of Wethu is its collaborative aspect. UltraLazi features a range of skilled guests, including Official Rsa, Navaro, Benzoo, Mender_ZA, Infinity Music, El-Kay Music, and many others, each contributing distinct flavours and viewpoints to the show. Despite the variety of voices, the project maintains a consistent flow and atmosphere, held together by uLazi’s steady hand and distinct production style.
