Mkeyz – ISIKO II

The second installment of Mkeyz’s sonic journey, titled ISIKO II, which translates to “tradition” or “heritage,” delves even deeper into ancestral and soulful Amapiano sounds, surpassing its predecessor in terms of depth, richness, and cultural resonance. Mkeyz is distinguished by his haunting vocals and intricate keyboard skills, and employs this project to combine personal narrative, spirituality, and African heritage into a unified and emotionally resonant body of work.

Mkeyz has recently appeared on Siyibonile alongside De Mthuda and Sam Deep.

Every track on ISIKO II is deeply infused with emotion, incorporating call-and-response patterns, repetitive chant-like phrases, and melodic developments that evoke a sense of hymn-like reverence. Emphasis is placed on emotional honesty, love, healing, and cultural identity. Traditional elements are skillfully blended with log drums, jazz-influenced chords, and ambient textures, making this project ideal for both meditation and significant dancefloor experiences.

Regardless of whether you’re Zulu, Xhosa, or from across the continent, ISIKO II conveys African identity and healing through music, delivered by Mkeyz’s warm, spiritual voice and distinctive piano style.
