Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U were released at midnight on a Friday (February 14), and as predicted, they produced some exceptionally high-quality music.

The 21-song project commences with the duo honouring Toronto’s CN Tower on its fittingly named opening track. Following that, tracks such as “MOTH BALLS” and “SOMETHING ABOUT YOU” demonstrate their collaborative chemistry, producing even more late-night toxic love songs. At the top of the list is the standout track “CRYING IN CHANEL,” which, although PND did not contribute, features Drake attempting to quantify love through the lens of luxury fashion brands.

Based on the timing of the release, fans initially expected an entire R&B project. Fortunately, however, the Toronto rapper’s skills are most pronounced in the rap-influenced tracks. For instance, consider “GIMMIE A HUG,” in which he responds to Ye’s comments about eliminating Drake and the 2024 rap beef. Meanwhile, there’s also “NOKIA,” showcasing his adoption of the disco-pop sounds that were prominent in the 1990s.

PARTYNEXTDOOR also has some standout tracks on the project. The artist made appearances on almost every track across the 74-minute album and, similar to Drake, secured a solo feature with the song “DEEPER.” The LP also features a few unexpected guest artists, including Ice Spice, Yebba, and Chino Pacas, who has achieved success on the Latin charts.

By the end of Some Sexy Songs 4 U, the duo can confidently state that they achieved their objective. Drake demonstrated that he still possesses enduring popularity, while PARTYNEXTDOOR highlighted the justification for him receiving the recognition he deserves.
