Album: Doja Cat – Vie

Doja Cat – Vie

On Friday, September 26, Doja Cat launched her fifth studio album, titled Vie. The Grammy Award-winning rapper and singer also released a video for the song “Gorgeous.”

The new album is set to be released approximately two years after the Scarlet album by the “Paint the Town Red” singer. She comes back with a 15-track album that features her pop-oriented songs, some of which have a slightly biting tone.

The title ‘Vie’, which translates to ‘life’ in English, was a deliberate word choice originating from the basic fact that this is my fifth studio album. “When referencing the tattoo with the roman numeral ‘five’ on her collarbone, Doja made her statement clear,” said Doja in a press statement. In numerology, the number five symbolizes curiosity, a desire for adventure, and a need for change. I selected ‘Vie’ in homage to ‘La Vie en Rose’ and linked it to the theme of romance, offering my interpretation of love, sex, romance, pain, and wonder within a relationship throughout this project.

The album’s lead single was “Jealous Type,” a bubbly track, followed by the subsequent release of “Gorgeous.” The visual, directed by Bardia Zeinali, is a showcase of numerous models, featuring Yseult, Paloma Elsesser, Alex Consani, Irina Shayk, Amelia Gray, Ugbad, Ida Heiner, Alek Wek, Karen Elson, Sora Choi, Imaan Hammam, and several other notable stunners. The video is modelled after classic Revlon advertisements, and the music will likely dominate TikTok and Instagram shortly.

Immediately online, fans were excited about “Take Me Dancing,” which features SZA, the only guest artist on the album. The YTK-produced song, and their third collaboration, is an upbeat, energetic track that is receiving widespread critical acclaim. “Doja Cat referred to SZA as the siren of this century and her favorite voice in a post on X on September 24.”

Following Doja is extensive promotion of her most recent project. She will be co-hosting NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on 1 October. Later on, on October 4, she is set to perform as the musical guest on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” which will be hosted by Bad Bunny for its 51st season premiere.
