Album: Da Mabusa – Ivududu

Ivududu identifies Da Mabusa’s defining statement as a producer that is deeply rooted in the sonic richness of Amapiano’s underground music scene. The album boasts a bold, immersive sound and a rhythmically intense quality, achieved by combining experimental percussion with soulful undertones that showcase his intricate approach to sound design.

Da Mabusa, SoulQue, and Sabza Womqulo recently appeared on Uxolo with Dj Kayd Boizen and Ama Grootman.

Throughout the project, Da Mabusa delves into various moods: ranging from deep and moody log drum progressions to uplifting, vocal-infused anthems evoking a sense of spiritual movement. The album title, Ivududu, conveys the imagery of earth, community, and vibration, and that connection to the earth is a recurring theme throughout each song.

A clear emphasis is placed on texture and detail — shakers, basslines, and synth layers are intricately woven together to produce a sound that is both mesmerising and cinematic. Ivududu offers more than just entertainment; it immerses the listener in a raw, earthy soundscape that evokes authenticity to South Africa’s dance music heritage.

The album encapsulates Da Mabusa’s spirit: fearless, deeply rooted, and forward-thinking, marking a celebration of the raw, dynamic energy of Amapiano.
