African Artists Submit Entries For The 2026 Grammy Awards

The 2026 Grammy Awards road has officially commenced, with African artists making a notable presence this year.

Several top acts from the continent, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Tyla, have submitted their songs and projects for consideration across major categories, according to Grammy monitoring platform The Grammy Guru.

Wizkid tops the list of submissions, having entered his latest album Morayo for both Album of the Year and Best Global Album. His single “Piece of My Heart” was submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best African Music Performance, and his self-directed “Kese (Dance)” was entered for Best Music Video. The Starboy boss also put forward the Billionaires Club, his collaboration with Olamide and Darkoo, for Best African Music Performance.

Burna Boy’s album No Sign of Weakness was entered for consideration in both the Album of the Year and Best Global Album categories. A soulful track by him called Love is under consideration for the Best African Music Performance award, and his collaboration with the French artist Joé Dwèt Filé, Kampé III, has been entered for the Best Global Music Performance award.

Ayra Starr, a prominent young voice in Afrobeats, submitted her hit ‘Hot Body’ for Record of the Year and Song of the Year and her collaboration with Wizkid, ‘Gimme Dat’, for both Best African Music Performance and Best Music Video.

South African singer Tyla joins other African representatives, with several notable contributions coming after her Grammy success earlier this year. Push 2 Start, her hit single, was submitted in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best African Music Performance, and Best Music Video. She also submitted ‘Is It for Best Pop Solo Performance, and One Call (TMXO Remix) for Best Remixed Recording.

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, African artists are poised to make a strong impact with these upcoming submissions. The Recording Academy’s voting process is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, with the official list of nominees set to be released in November 2025.

Nigerian superstar Davido has recently become a voting member of the Recording Academy, which has significantly enhanced Africa’s expanding impact on the global music industry.
