Afrobeats artist Joeboy has brought additional attention to Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 semi-final match against Morocco through a financial bet rather than athletic performance. As excitement grows for the match set for Wednesday, the implications have extended beyond football. Following in the footsteps of fellow musician Davido, Joeboy has reportedly placed a bet of ₦5 million on the Super Eagles to defeat Morocco and secure a position in the final.

The artist, recognized for his active interest in sports betting, posted a photo of his wager on social media, expressing his confidence in Nigeria’s capability to silence the local fans in Rabat. For Joeboy, this act signifies not just support but also belief in the team’s unbeaten record in the tournament.

This is a familiar scenario for Joeboy, as his betting experiences have attracted media attention for both significant wins and notable losses. In April 2025, he gained viral attention after losing ₦3 million on a UEFA Champions League match that involved Real Madrid and Arsenal, leading fans to humorously refer to it as “premium tears.”

His recent bet adds to a growing pattern of high-profile financial endorsements for the Super Eagles in their pursuit of continental success. Davido has disclosed a stake of around ₦36 million (approximately $25,000) on Nigeria’s initial AFCON matches, while BUA Group chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu has pledged a $500,000 bonus should Nigeria win against Morocco, in addition to $50,000 for each goal scored.

On the field, Nigeria has provided fans with ample reasons for optimism. The Super Eagles remain unbeaten in AFCON 2025 and come into the semi-final full of confidence after a 2–0 win against Algeria in the quarter-finals. Morocco, however, will present a formidable challenge, buoyed by a supportive home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

If Nigeria secures a win, Joeboy stands to receive a payout estimated at around ₦11 million. Beyond the financial aspect, a victory would represent Nigeria’s first AFCON final appearance since 2023, a moment that would be significant for both the artist and millions of Super Eagles fans globally.
