Ghanaian sensation Black Sherif reflects on his success as Spotify’s most streamed Ghanaian artiste.

Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif recently discussed his achievement of being named Ghana’s most-streamed artist on Spotify for two consecutive years. In an interview with Capital Xtra, he expressed gratitude for the support he receives, stating that it motivates him to create more impactful music.

Reflecting on his journey, Black Sherif, speaking with Kamilla Rose on Capital Xtra in the UK, shared his excitement about achieving such a significant milestone. He emphasized that this recognition fuels his passion for music and allows him to express himself creatively in the studio. Spotify’s annual list for 2023 confirmed Black Sherif as the most streamed Ghanaian artist. He surpassed notable figures like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy.

When asked how he felt to be the most streamed artist he said, “It’s crazy. I think those are part of the reasons why I want to make music and see how far it gets. It makes me want to do more and it gives me a lot of freedom because nobody was policing this music. I love freedom with art. I love to do whatever I want in the studio and see what it does for me”.

In addition, the rapper will be taking the stage at Rolling Stone’s 2024 Future of Music festival. He will be joining a lineup that includes Teezo Touchdown, Young Miko, Flo Milli, Uncle Waffles, Peso Pluma, and others.
