A court in Lagos, Nigeria has issued a production warrant against popular singer, Naira Marley, in an internet fraud case.
The warrant was issued by Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Friday, October 6, 2023.
The production warrant is an order for Naira Marley to be produced in court on October 30, 2023 to answer to charges of internet fraud.
The charges were filed against Naira Marley by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2019.
Naira Marley was arrested by the EFCC in May 2019 on suspicion of being involved in internet fraud. He was later released on bail.
The singer has denied the allegations against him. He has also accused the EFCC of persecuting him.
The issuance of the production warrant against Naira Marley is a sign that the EFCC is serious about prosecuting him for the allegations against him. It will be interesting to see how the case unfolds.
