Doja Cat Changes Lyrics During Dallas Show After Texas Turns Blue

Doja Cat celebrated the Democratic victories in Texas during the 2026 midterm elections at her concert in Dallas on November 4. During her “Tour Ma Vie World Tour,” she modified the lyrics to “Paint The Town Red” to honor the Republican Party’s loss in the state.

Wearing a light blue two-piece outfit, Doja Cat announced to the audience her intention to change the lyrics, saying, “I think some of y’all might know what I’m about to do. We’re going to replace it with blue.” The crowd responded by chanting “blue” instead of “red.” She then performed the altered lyrics: “B**ch, I said what I said / I’d rather be famous instead / I let all that get to my head / I don’t care, I paint the town blue.”

This concert marked a significant moment as Doja Cat progressed through the North American leg of her tour, which includes Latto as a supporting act. Upcoming performances in San Antonio and Houston on November 6 and 7 may provide additional opportunities for her to continue the celebration.

On the political front, Democrat James Talarico notably flipped a U.S. Senate seat in Texas, defeating Republican Ken Paxton. Additionally, Gina Hinojosa became Texas’ first Latina governor by defeating incumbent Greg Abbott. Their successes appear to be linked to a shift among Latino voters, a demographic that had previously shown considerable support for Donald Trump. Factors such as rising living costs and stricter immigration enforcement likely influenced this change in voter sentiment.

Following his win, Talarico stated, “We just proved that all the money in the world is no match for the people of Texas. This win is for every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone is listening. I heard you, we heard you. And tonight the world hears you.”
