Jay-Z’s Expansion Into Asia Progresses With The Signing Of Jackson Wang

Jay-Z is increasing Roc Nation’s presence in Asia by signing Hong Kong artist Jackson Wang to a global management deal.

This collaboration links one of Asia’s most recognized performers with Jay-Z’s entertainment firm as the founder seeks to expand his financial reach in the region.

Wang marked the partnership with the release of “Thank You,” a new single that features a black-and-white video he co-directed with Ojun Kwon.

“I don’t need a middle person or a filter standing between me and my fans,” Wang posted on Instagram. “Because from day one, it has always been about me and my fans. I want to make sure my fans know as much as possible about who I am and what I am as a human being. There shouldn’t be guessing. There shouldn’t be assumptions.”

The video was shot with an iPhone 18 Pro and included 30 supporters chosen from fans in over 80 countries.

Wang, 32, achieved international fame as a member of GOT7 before launching Team Wang Records and building a successful solo career.

In addition to music, the former Junior Olympic-level saber fencer has created businesses in fashion, creative direction, and live entertainment in both Asia and Western markets.

Roc Nation remarked, “That competitive fire still burns through everything he touches. It’s the spirit of someone who refuses categories: athlete, artist, entrepreneur, creative director. And there’s no indication he’s stopping anytime soon.”

The agreement presents Jay-Z with a significant cultural ally as his investment operations seek to enhance their commercial footprint in Asia.

His well-known statement, “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man,” now reflects an empire that increasingly links entertainment, consumer brands, and private equity.

As previously reported, MarcyPen Capital Partners has teamed up with Hanwha Asset Management to create MarcyPen Asia, a proposed $500 million growth equity fund.

This fund aims at established Korean companies across various sectors, including entertainment, beauty, fashion, food, beverages, health, media, and sports, that have potential for international growth.

MarcyPen, formed from the 2024 merger of Marcy Venture Partners and Pendulum Holdings’ investment division, reportedly manages around $1.1 billion in assets.

Jay-Z’s interests in Asia also extend to the Indonesian coffee chain Kopi Kenangan, which Roc Nation supported during a 2019 funding round alongside Serena Ventures.

The company now has over 1,300 locations and has reportedly engaged in preliminary discussions about a potential public offering valued at nearly $1 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Wang’s involvement offers Roc Nation an established Asian superstar, while MarcyPen seeks out companies that can elevate regional culture into global consumer markets.
