Album: Mjolisi – Kuphelele

Mjolisi has released a project that expands his influences beyond the traditional Maskandi sound with the delivery of “Kuphelele.”

Every work by Mjolisi has been well-received, but this project differs from his previous offerings since his entry into the music mainstream. He has ventured beyond the typical Maskandi range, exploring new melodies and styles while maintaining the essence associated with the genre.

Featuring 12 tracks, Mjolisi collaborated with various versatile talents, including MaWhoo on the album’s lead song, “Kuphelele,” which shares the album’s title. The inclusion of these diverse talents contributes to an album that strengthens Mjolisi’s notable discography.

“Kuphelele” is available everywhere, representing a significant project that seeks to redefine the conventional boundaries of Maskandi. This innovative approach to music creation, along with the strong Zulu influence and traditional elements, contributes to the continued prominence of Maskandi music.
