Nigerian Afrobeats Superstar Wizkid has added another award to his seemingly endless list of awards as ‘Essence‘ which features talented chanteuse Tems and Justin Bieber has won the ‘Best Collaboration’ category at the 2022 BET Awards.
Recall, this was a second version of the song that was sequel to the original that hade been released on Wizkid’s Grammy Nominated ‘Made In Lagos‘ Album.
This song was nominated among other outstanding songs by well-known artists, including “Every Chance I Get” by DJ Khaled Feat. Lil Baby & Lil Durk, “Family Ties,” by Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar, “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat Feat. SZA, “Way 2 Sexy” by Drake Feat. Future & Young Thug, and “Whole Lotta Money” (Remix) by Bia Feat. Nicki Minaj.
Tems, who was in attendance, appreciated the BET Awards while accepting the prize, saying:
“Thank you, BET… This award is for really Wiz, Africa, and I just want to say that great thing is happening out of Africa right now and the light is on everyone there… This is dedicated to Africa and to Nigeria. Thank you.”
