Album: Taves – Popstar Side A

Taves, the emerging Nigerian singer, has officially released his debut studio album, Popstar – Side A.

The album, which features eight tracks, was launched on July 22, 2026, under the Mother Africa Reigns Supreme (MARS) label. It represents a noteworthy entry into the artist’s developing Afro-pop style, characterized by catchy melodies, contemporary production, and expressive lyrics.

Prior to the album’s release, Taves hosted a listening party for Popstar – Side A at Ori Bar in Ikeja, where attendees were able to experience the music alongside prominent figures from Nigeria’s alternative music scene.

Inspired by the popular culture of the 1990s and 2000s Nollywood, Taves incorporates nostalgic elements featuring well-known personalities such as Monalisa Chinda and Agbani Darego, resulting in a distinctive blend of pop culture and modern Afro-pop.

Those who enjoy melodic Afrobeats, alternative sounds, and contemporary pop with a hint of nostalgia may find this debut album worth adding to their music collection.
