Davido Discusses His Main Fear As An International Music Artist

Afrobeats artist Davido has shared a personal reflection on fame, expressing concern about not knowing the right moment to step away from the public eye.

In a recent video broadcast, he spoke openly about the emotional challenges of success and the pressure to stay relevant in the entertainment industry.

Davido noted that witnessing former public figures decline in influence has prompted him to consider the significance of exiting at the right time, rather than overstaying in the spotlight.

He mentioned that, given the chance, he would create a therapy center for ex-celebrities, as adjusting to life after fame can be extremely challenging for those who have been in the public eye.

Drawing a parallel with sports, he highlighted that even distinguished athletes face scrutiny despite their remarkable achievements.

Davido stated,

“If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy center for people who were popular and very successful. Because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not. Even in soccer, you win the World Cup, Champions League, and other trophies, and people still don’t think it is enough. For instance, look at my good friend Ronaldo – after everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him for exiting the World Cup.

“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up.”

Davido’s insights provide a glimpse into the pressures associated with widespread success, underscoring the emotional burden of maintaining relevance in an industry characterized by fleeting public attention.

While he continues to be a prominent figure in African music, his comments indicate that he is contemplating life beyond his current success and what it may entail after leaving the spotlight.
