Polo G Marks One Year Of Sobriety, Acknowledging Personal Growth And Discipline

Polo G reaches a significant milestone in his life by celebrating one year of sobriety.

On June 8, Polo G shared on his Instagram a series of photos showing himself in a serene setting surrounded by flowers and greenery. In some of the images, he is depicted sitting calmly in a chair while getting his hair braided.

In the caption, the 27-year-old artist expressed, “Officially 1YR Sober…. Key Words Here ‘GROWTH’ & ‘DISCIPLINE.'”

He added, “I’m beyond proud and happy for myself for the man I’ve been able to become through willpower. We all have the potential to be who we really want to be; we just have to find it within ourselves.”

To mark his year of sobriety, Polo G plans to release a new song titled “Weight on My Shoulders.”

He stated, “But yeah, to celebrate, I’m putting out a single this Friday, swipe until the end for the cover art.”

Polo G has been facing challenges with substance abuse for several years. In January 2020, he disclosed that he had been struggling with addiction to Xanax and ecstasy for three years.

He mentioned in a now-deleted Instagram post, “I had a real bad X addiction for like 3 years. I used to think I had to be high to feel alive. It took a moment where I almost lost my life to finally let it go and pay close attention to my health.”

He continued, “I said all that to say to all the people battling a drug addiction, it’s more to life than that; there are more things you can put your energy into. I know how it feels to want to escape depression, anxiety, or even your reality, but it’s only temporary. You have to really figure yourself out and continuously work on becoming a better version of you.”

It is encouraging to see Polo G overcoming his addictions as he refocuses on creating music once again.
