My Wife Does Not Cook; It Is Not Something She Enjoys I Handle The Cooking – Banky W

Nigerian singer and actor Banky W has shared a personal reflection on his marriage to actress Adesua Etomi, discussing how their relationship is influenced by understanding, resilience, and a rejection of societal expectations.

In an appearance on the Teju Babyface Show, Banky W addressed traditional gender roles in marriage, explaining that their household dynamic diverges from convention. He noted that he often takes on the role of the cook.

“There are some men who insist their wives must cook, but my wife does not really cook, even though she can cook very well, it’s just not her thing,” he mentioned.

He emphasized that their arrangement is successful not because it adheres to traditional norms, but because it is based on mutual comfort and compatibility. While he enjoys cooking, his wife prefers to eat, which he believes creates a balance in their home.

“Some people come to our house and see me cooking and feel uncomfortable, but it works for us,” he remarked, urging couples to establish their own standards instead of adhering to societal norms.

“What works for you will be different from somebody else. Don’t live your life by somebody else’s rules,” he advised.

Banky W also reflected on one of the most difficult times in their marriage—their journey to parenthood. He spoke about Adesua Etomi’s perseverance through multiple IVF attempts and described it as a challenging season for both of them.

“I’ve seen her go through things that would break people. She kept getting back up, going through cycle after cycle, even injecting herself with medications,” he noted.

He acknowledged that witnessing her resilience reshaped his understanding of partnership and sacrifice, prompting him to reconsider what should be regarded as “burdens” in a household.

Eventually, after years of waiting, the couple welcomed their son, Hezekiah—a moment Banky W described as the result of persistence, faith, and shared strength during tough times.

For him, the experience was not solely about parenthood but also about grasping the depth of resilience needed to build a life together.
