Wu-Tang Clan has been officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2026 inductees were announced on Monday, April 13, with Sade, Luther Vandross, Oasis, Iron Maiden, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, and Joy Division/New Order also included.

Queen Latifah and MC Lyte will join them in the Hall of Fame as recipients of the “Early Influence” award, which acknowledges their contributions as pioneers in music and culture.

Wu-Tang Clan and the others will be formally inducted on November 14 at a ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, which will be available for viewing in December on ABC and Disney+.

RZA expressed his reaction on Instagram, stating that the announcement brought him great joy and a sense of achievement. He expressed gratitude to his group members and others who supported their journey, thanking the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the recognition.

Raekwon remarked on the significance of the induction, indicating its historical importance, while GZA acknowledged the role of hip hop predecessors, fans, collaborators, friends, and family in reaching this milestone.

While Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, and Shakira were nominated this year, they did not receive sufficient votes from the international voting body, which includes over 1,200 inductees, historians, and music industry professionals.

With the induction of Wu-Tang Clan, Queen Latifah, and MC Lyte, there are now 18 hip-hop acts in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were the first hip-hop group inducted in 2007, followed by subsequent inductees such as Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and N.W.A.

Other notable inductees include JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, Biggie, OutKast, Missy Elliott, and A Tribe Called Quest, while LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa, and DJ Kool Herc have been honored as either Early Influence or Musical Excellence Award recipients.
