A$AP Rocky Discusses Drake: 'I Just Don’t Associate With Him'

A$AP Rocky and Drake are unlikely to restore their friendship. Rocky has recently been open about the end of his relationship with the Toronto rapper, hinting that it may involve Rihanna.

While promoting his latest album, Don’t Be Dumb, Rocky spoke with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden about various subjects. Alongside the critical acclaim for his music, Rocky’s personal life has come under scrutiny due to his track “STOLE YA FLOW,” which he has suggested contains lines directed at Drake.

When Darden brought up the feud with Drake, Rocky stated, “I think Hip Hop tactics and beefs [are] like WWF; it’s like wrestling all the way. But this thing between us, it’s not real smoke, but I just don’t f**k with him. We was once friends. I feel like it’s over females. I feel like he wasn’t happy, and he expressed that.”

Rocky was likely alluding to the instances where Drake has made remarks about Rihanna. In 2023, on his album For All The Dogs, Drake appeared to reference Rihanna in the song “Fear Of Heights,” making comments that suggested lingering sentiments about their past relationship.

It is notable that Rocky and Rihanna have been in a relationship since 2020 and are parents to three children. Rocky described Drake’s comments about Rihanna as “soft,” stating, “I think at some certain point when everybody getting older and you supposed to be moving on, for you to still be picking at a female, that’s soft to me.”

Rocky clarified that Drake was not his only target and expressed that his music was not solely a response. He mentioned, “I ain’t put out music for me to really say something back. I finally did say something back to a few people … I’m talking to whoever feel like I’m talking to [them]. I do think that s**t is petty. It’s enough money, it’s enough women, it’s enough fame, spotlights to go around. We not really trippin’ off nothing, but is it real smoke? It could never be. That ain’t smoke.”

The tensions between them do not appear to be resolving anytime soon.
