Davido’s Father Addresses The Anu Adeleke DNA situation

Billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, the father of Nigerian music star Davido, has addressed the ongoing paternity controversy regarding a young girl, Anu Adeleke, amid renewed calls for a new DNA test.

The controversy resurfaced when Ayo Labinjo, a woman from Ibadan, reiterated her claims of having had an intimate relationship with Davido during one of his visits years ago, which she asserts led to the birth of the girl. She has repeatedly claimed that the singer has neglected his parental responsibilities.

Recently, Anu used her Instagram account to urge Davido to undergo another DNA test, stating that she seeks clarity about her paternity. In response, the singer mentioned that five DNA tests have already been conducted, all indicating he is not the child’s father.

On January 21, 2025, Dr. Adeleke held a press conference where he expressed his support for his son and rejected the renewed claims.

He stated that the allegations circulating are false and misleading, attributing their persistence to investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo, whom he accused of promoting the narrative online. Dr. Adeleke claimed that Olunloyo has falsely asserted she was a close friend of his late wife, Veronica Adeleke, Davido’s mother, while he maintains he has never met her.

He emphasized that the matter has been conclusively addressed through scientific methods, stating that the DNA results definitively indicate that Anu is not his grandchild. Dr. Adeleke, who has 14 grandchildren, mentioned he would welcome another if the scientific evidence suggested otherwise, but reaffirmed the clarity of the current test results. He also noted that the family will not make the DNA results public due to security concerns.

Despite the renewed discussions online, the Adeleke family has stated that due process was followed and requested the public to allow the matter to rest.

Dr. Adeleke mentioned that Anu’s aunt contacted him and stated that Kemi Olunloyo is managing Anu’s Instagram account. He advised Davido to disregard Olunloyo’s claims, referencing her own son’s public disavowal of her. He recounted that during the initial DNA testing process, Davido expressed unfamiliarity with the child’s mother, but insisted on proceeding with the test, which involved samples from both Davido and Anu. The specimens were sent abroad for analysis.

Both he and the child’s grandmother signed to receive the results, which indicated a 0% probability of paternity. He noted that Anu’s mother became emotional upon receiving the news, and he suggested that they remain in Lagos to arrange for additional tests.

The Adeleke family has reiterated their position that the matter has been resolved scientifically and has called for those involved to move forward, asserting that ongoing claims continue to cause unnecessary distress despite multiple negative DNA results.
