Seun Kuti Responds To Wizkid’s Comment About Turning 40

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has publicly responded after Wizkid referred to him as a “fool at 40,” intensifying their ongoing social media conflict.

The online atmosphere has become increasingly charged following Wizkid’s decision to respond aggressively to Seun Kuti, who has publicly criticized both the singer and his fan base, Wizkid FC, for several weeks.

Seun Kuti, the son of Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has voiced strong disapproval of Wizkid FC for labeling Wizkid as the “New Fela,” calling them the most ignorant fan base. He has also accused Wizkid of lacking spiritual depth in his music and asserted that Wizkid FC cannot fill stadiums like Davido’s 30BG or Burna Boy’s Outsiders.

On January 20, 2025, Wizkid reacted strongly via his social media accounts, launching personal attacks against Seun Kuti. The Grammy-winning artist labeled Seun as a “hungry bastard,” insulted his wife, and claimed he is more prominent than Seun’s late father, Fela Kuti.

In response, Seun Kuti countered by mocking Wizkid’s height and warned both the singer and his fans to stop associating with his father’s legacy. He also addressed the online mockery concerning Fela’s trousers—often referred to as “Pata gigan”—stating that Ecobank reportedly invested millions of naira to promote the outfit, countering the ridicule aimed at his father.

Seun Kuti wrote:

“Just be yourself, short man. You are also great, u go delete now, u no get mind, who is the pussy now beech.”

He further escalated the situation by making claims about Wizkid’s personal life, including a controversial allegation involving American rapper Diddy.

As the situation continues to develop, reactions remain mixed online, with fans of both artists exchanging words and calling for restraint. Neither side has indicated a willingness to back down, keeping the dispute prominently in public discourse.
