A$AP Rocky Mentioned That His Mother Consistently Encouraged Him To Pursue A Relationship With Rihanna

A$AP Rocky’s mother always believed that Rihanna was the right choice for her son. In a recent excerpt from The New York Times’ “Popcast,” the Harlem rapper discussed how his mother encouraged him to pursue the Barbadian singer, who is now the mother of his three children, even while he was dating other women.

“A woman will change your whole life, especially if it’s a companion,” Rocky remarked during the discussion. He noted that being with a partner can offer perspective, mentioning that they often help clarify relationships with others.

Co-host Joe Coscarelli humorously pointed out that Rocky “didn’t just get with any girl,” to which he affirmed, “I got with a very special woman.” He highlighted the similarities in their backgrounds, stating, “We were on the same page. Born the same year. My dad is from her country … When I go back, I get to see both sides of my family. It’s so many similarities, it’s just funny. We laugh about it a lot.”

Rocky expressed a persistent connection to Rihanna, saying, “She was always my boo, you know what I’m saying? Like, I always f**ked with her.” He recalled his mother’s early encouragement regarding Rihanna, explaining how she expressed a desire for him to be with her rather than other girls he dated at the time.

In retrospect, Rocky appreciated his mother’s foresight, asserting that “Mothers know best.” He mentioned feeling grateful that Rihanna entered his life when she did, believing that they might not have been ready for a relationship any earlier.

On Friday, Rocky is set to release his highly anticipated fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb. The 15-track LP will include two bonus tracks and collaborations with Doechii, Brent Faiyaz, BossMan Dlow, and frequent collaborator Tyler, The Creator, among others.
