Maury Povich gained recognition by showcasing familial conflicts for the entertainment of audiences on “Maury.” Recently, he expressed a willingness to return from retirement to address notable disputes in the Hip Hop community.

During an appearance on “Sherri” on December 15, Povich mentioned to host Sherri Shepherd that he might take on the task of resolving rap feuds. He stated, “I’ve put this out on social media; I would come out of retirement if I could get Nicki [Minaj] and Cardi B [to] settle their differences with lie detector tests.”

“Maury” aired for more than 20 seasons before ending in 2022. Initially, the daytime talk show tackled serious issues, but over time, its popularity stemmed from lie detector and paternity tests, with memorable phrases like “You are… the father” becoming viral sensations.

Povich’s calm demeanor, even amid chaos on set, contributed to the show’s success. At 86, he possesses the experience necessary for mediating disputes between rivals. The ongoing conflict between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B reignited last September during the release of the latter’s album, AM I THE DRAMA?, and tensions escalated when both artists involved their children in their disagreements.

Povich also expressed interest in mediating between two other prominent rappers, saying, “How about if Drake and Kendrick did the same thing? I’d come out of retirement.”

He proposed the idea of a prime time special and invited Shepherd to co-host the event. Given the continued interest from fans surrounding these conflicts, such an event could attract significant viewership. The key question remains whether any of the involved artists would accept Povich’s offer.
