As 2025 approaches its conclusion, Kendrick Lamar reflects on his achievements with satisfaction. His “Grand National Tour,” supporting the GNX album, recently concluded in Australia, where he performed alongside his frequent collaborator ScHoolboy Q for a memorable show.

Both Kendrick and ScHoolboy are members of the intermittent Black Hippy collective, which also features artists Ab-Soul and Jay Rock. They were friends and emerging artists when the group formed around 2009, and all were signed to Top Dawg Entertainment.

Although a full Black Hippy album was never released, the members have collaborated on each other’s projects. ScHoolboy’s “Collard Greens,” featuring Kendrick, served as the lead single from his third album, 2014’s Oxymoron, and has since become a well-regarded track. Footage from the Allianz Stadium in Sydney shows fans enthusiastically singing along as the two artists performed together.

ScHoolboy and Doechii served as the opening acts for the final Australian segment of the “Grand National Tour.” The tour, co-headlined by SZA, has been widely regarded as a success. After beginning its national dates in April, it started its European segment in July and continued to Latin America in September, though SZA did not perform for those dates.

According to Billboard, the tour grossed $256.4 million and sold 1.1 million tickets by July. This achievement made Lamar and SZA’s tour the highest-grossing co-headline tour to date, surpassing the “On The Run Tour” by Beyoncé and JAY-Z from 2014.
