Meek Mill Recognizes Young Thug’s Support During Conflict With Drake

Young Thug has at least one prominent supporter in the rap industry. While in Philadelphia, Meek Mill publicly expressed gratitude to Thugger for his backing during the well-known feud with Drake that occurred over a decade ago.

On Friday (Dec. 5), Young Thug attended the Meek Mill & Friends Philadelphia Homecoming concert at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. Meek took a moment to acknowledge Thug’s support, recalling how he stood by him at a time when others seemed reluctant. He shared with the audience that he first met “Slime” in 2012 and explained why he holds Thug in high regard.

“I tell this guy every time I see him. When I was in my beef with Drake, people were acting like they were scared to do a verse with me,” Meek stated from the stage. “This guy came to my house while I was on house arrest for two days straight. [Thug] lifted my confidence back up and got me focused. So Philly, make some noise for Young Thug!”

For context, the dispute between Drake and Meek began in July 2015, when Meek accused Drake on social media—then called Twitter—of not supporting him and criticized the Toronto artist for using ghostwriters. This led to several diss tracks exchanged between the two, with many believing that Drake gained the upper hand with his viral diss track “Back To Back.”

Meek’s commendation comes as Young Thug faces challenges of his own. Following the conclusion of the YSL RICO case, where he pleaded guilty and received a sentence of time served, Thug has drawn further scrutiny due to leaked jail phone calls where he made negative comments about other rappers.

Despite this, Meek has continued to support Thug, even criticizing Fulton County officials regarding the leaks, a stance echoed by Drake. The former rivals, Drake and Meek Mill, have since resolved their differences and are both pursuing successful careers.

It remains to be seen how Drake will respond to this recent public acknowledgment by Meek.
