Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has sparked a national discussion by urging the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to halt the deployment of corps members to states other than their home locations.

The artist made this request on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in a post directed at the scheme’s official X (Twitter) account.

Odumodublvck contended that the NYSC posting system, meant to enhance unity, has become unsafe in light of the country’s escalating insecurity. This sentiment resonates with many parents and young graduates concerned about the dangers linked to inter-state travel and deployment.

“@officialnyscng PLEASE ITS HIGH TIME WE SUSPEND THE POSTING OF OUR YOUTHS TO DIFFERENT STATES OTHER THAN WHERE THEY ARE BASED… WITH THE STATE OF OUR COUNTRY ITS NOT SUSTAINABLE. PLEASE PITY THE PARENTS. KIDS ARE DYING. MOVE WITH THE TIMES,” he stated.

His remarks follow a tragic road accident that resulted in the deaths of prospective corps members on their way to an orientation camp in Gombe, intensifying calls across the nation for a reevaluation of the program’s policies. The rapper’s comments also reflect broader anxieties regarding abductions and violent incidents impacting travelers and students in various states.

Since its establishment in 1973, the NYSC has mandated that graduates under 30 serve outside their home states to promote national integration. However, rising insecurity has made many Nigerians question whether the program, as it currently stands, adequately ensures the safety of young people.

Odumodublvck’s post has gained significant attention, garnering widespread support and renewing pressure on the NYSC and the Federal Government to reassess the operation of the scheme in light of current circumstances.
